Andrea Frontzek

Andrea has been working for the last 20 years with adults who identify with disabilities in a Community setting as a Social Therapist based on the philosophy by Rudolf Steiner in England, Germany, Scotland and Canada.

Andrea is drawn to community/ group arts facilitation. Recently she has facilitated her biggest art community gathering of about 70 people with mixed abilities at a Camphill Social Therapy conference in May, using the theme of Art and Social change.

Her approach is using somatic and mindful based tools to support the art exploration process. Andrea will invite you to move your story, play with it, write a poetic response and develop art making skills and expressions.

Throughout her training with The CREATE Institute Toronto, Andrea has worked with:

L’Arche Toronto – Solexpress, an Art Day Program that uses different modalities like Movement, Music and Visual Art.
YWCA Breakthrough Program – Group Art Therapy for women who have experienced violence and abuse.
Camphill Communities Ontario – for adults with disabilities offering person-centered support in day to day life, being active in community development and encouraging accessibility and participation which leads to a sense of belonging.

Current projects:
Andrea is currently facilitating an ongoing Expressive Arts Group for Women who are sharing their stories of isolation and mental health through the arts. The duration of the Arts group lasts 3 month, ending with an exhibition and celebration. The aim is to create awareness about Mental Health and a sense of belonging through making, shaping and playing with the arts.

Mosaic Studio – An art making space for artists of mixed abilities and disabilities. The theme is collaboration and making art, using visual art, weaving and ceramics which is showcased and sold in the Camphill Store in Barrie/Ontario.
